We are all given one life to live and it is our responsibility to live it well…

Throughout these last four years I have had an incredible opportunity of meeting so many wonderful people. I feel truly blessed and honored to do what I do and provide people with memories that will last a lifetime. For me, I don’t feel that I am in the “picture taking business” but rather one of creating memories. With each client that enters these doors, a friendship begins, and they are no longer just “clients” but rather, friends.

Each person that I have had the privilege of photographing holds a dear place in my heart. Particularly this family.

I first met Jayme a little over a year and a half ago for her maternity session. It was a surprise for her husband, Ben, who had been encouraging her to document this incredible time in their lives. I love being a part of surprises like this! They are so much fun and he loved it!

I then met Ben and their beautiful baby girl, for Elle’s newborn session and immediately saw the love that Ben had for Jayme and their daughter. He adoooored his new family. Every once in a while throughout the session I would see Ben give Jayme a little hug and a kiss on the forehead as they gazed at their daughter. It was so sweet… a moment I was grateful to be a part of.

It is these intimate moments that I so cherish about my {job.} Moments that seem fleeting, but last a lifetime.

During the next year I was invited by Jayme and Ben to document their precious Elle’s first year, which I was SO excited for! I absolutely love getting to see these precious babies every three months and hear how things are going at home. It is such a blast!

During that year, however, I also witnessed Ben fight for his life with brain cancer… Throughout the year and a half+ that I had the great honor of knowing Ben, I saw a husband with an incredible love for his wife,  a daddy who absolutely adooores his little girl and would do anything to protect her, and a strong and courageous man who fought hard for his life…

We are all given one life to live… And I am SO thankful that I had the privilege and honor of knowing a life that was lived well.

Ben,

You will be truly and dearly missed…

Thank you is not enough for how grateful I am to have photographed your precious little girl and sweet family and provide them with memories that will last a lifetime… Thank you…

Michelle

I love this family!! Can you guess why??? Meet my brother-in-law & sister-in-law and their two adorable girls!

We have a crazy kinda story of how we first “officially” met 17+ years ago. I was at a high school summer camp that Mark & Stacy were working at (yet weren’t dating at the time)… And I remember Mark asking Stacy out on their first date by broadcasting it over the loud speaker at the camp! I’m seriously, how could she say “No!” right (good thinkin’ there Mark!) :) YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRSSSS later after Mark & Stacy married and while we were attending the same church, I met Jerry while he was visiting him family… Thus bringing us to where we are now. =) Okay, so maybe there’s more to the story… but that would take too long. =)

Last weekend we headed down to Vancouver, WA to visit the fam which also gave us an opportunity to take Mary & Stacy’s family portraits after getting rescheduled due to rain. YAY FOR SUNSHINE! Here’s a sneak peek from their session!

Love you guys!

Mark & Stacy planted and are Pastors at North Creek Church in the Salmon Creek area. If you live in or around that area, be sure to check out their church!! For more info visit their website at: www.coffeechurch.com

They are such a sweet, sweet couple inside and out and it was such a pleasure to document such a beautiful time in their lives.

It was also fun chatting and realizing all of the connections that we have from past and present clients! I love how small this world really is!

Lisa & Barry,
I am so excited to be a part of this journey and cannot wait to photograph your sweet little boy when he arrives! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
Cheers,
Michelle

My Creative Outlet {Maternity & Newborn Photographer}

I have been needing/wanting to do a maternity session that was just for me. I know, it sounds silly, but it is in these opportunities that allows me to grow and provide my clients with an even better experience. It allows them to see the vision and ideas running around in my head that may otherwise be difficult to envision.

I am absolutely {in-love} with what Camille and I were able to accomplish last night and I am SO excited for this new artistic direction!

Camille and her hubby are expecting their first sweet baby, a girl, in October. She is so radiant and let me try out a new photography prop {white gown} that my awesome Mom sewed for me! THANKS MOM!

This maternity session was also inspired by a phenomenal photographer that I absolutely admire from Canada named Lisa who owns Milk and Honey Photography. She is so inspirational and I just love her work! You can also find her on Facebook by clicking here.

I couldn’t resist getting a quick sneak peek from tonight’s session. More to come!

Beauty… {Wedding, Maternity & Newborn Photographer}

August 16th, 2011

I feel compelled to write this… We live in a day and age where outward appearances have become so distorted that young children have eating disorders. I feel compelled to write this…

We live in a day and age where outward appearances have become so distorted that young children have eating disorders. Clothes now “define” us and place false prestige amongst our peers. Photoshop has become so overly abused that users depict bodies to young girls, boys, men and women what their bodies “should” look like…

This makes me so angry and very  sad.

YOU are BEAUTIFUL! You were made perfect in every way, shape, and form. YOU were beautifully and wonderfully made whether you can believe it or not. And as your photographer, it is my job to capture that authentic you and no one else.

It absolutely breaks my heart to see so many people struggle with their self images because the World has told them what their image should look like.

As your photographer, I promise to photograph the natural beauty that you poses. The beauty that comes from within and touches the lives of those around you.

You were beautifully and wonderfully made and I look forward to capturing the beauty that YOU possess.
