|| FREEDOM TO CREATE ||
As a photographer I constantly find myself in a cycle of needing to create. Without any rules. Without anyone telling me what they want. But just to create and play.
In these moments I feel like I can breath. They allow me to explore and try things that I might not otherwise do with a client. I can play with my editing, play with posing, play with makeup…
I have only done a handful of personal projects over the past 7 years I have been shooting professionally. I have always desired to do more, but have never made an effort to create the time and space for them. Until now… I have decided that this year (and coming year) will be the year to dream, create, and shoot personal projects that will allow me to push myself to a new artistic level. And that excites me!
As artists and specifically photographers, I truly believe that we need to do this. We need this outlet. I have found with the handful of personal projects I have done in the past has enabled me produce even more stunning and artful portraits for my clients. Out of these personal projects produces new ideas and stretches my skills as a photographer on many levels.
One of the areas that I am beginning to venture in is in the art of makeup. I have always been fascinated with makeup artists and decided to give my hand a try at it for my personal projects. For this session I wanted to play with the beautiful summer light we were having. So I called up my daughter’s babysitter and asked her if she wanted to model for me. We had a blast! I had the opportunity to try my hand at makeup artistry and was really pleased with the end result. I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak into one of my creative shoots! Enjoy!
