We’re making progress from the first post about the studio! I still can’t believe this 5 year old dream has still really happened!
Throughout the years I have had many different ideas for my studio. Prior to opening The White Space Studio I had been shooting out of my home studio, which I loved. It was a small 200SF space that I was quickly growing out of. We had been looking for 2 years for property to build our studio outside of our house and FINALLY had found our dream house on an acre of land… However, while purchasing our new house, we learned that we were unable to have a home based business that allows clientele, thus leading to one of the best decisions we have yet to make regarding my professional career as a photographer: open a studio. I am SO thankful that it did not work out for us to create another home-studio because I LOVE – LOVE – LOVE our new studio space!
Some are probably wondering why I chose to name the studio The White Space Studio and not Michelle Newell Photography… Well, here’s why: I wanted to design a space for professional artists, not just myself, to have a space that they could create in and also use as a professional studio for their clients. In the future the space will be available for other photographers, painters, videographers etc to rent and use for shoots, galas, workshops etc…
Currently I share the studio space with my AWESOME studio mate, Elise Liptack of Elise Marie Photography. Elise specializes in photographing girls and women. She also teaches awesome Beginning Photography Workshops! I absolutely love having Elise as my studio mate, not only is she a FABULOUS photographer, she is also beyond creative and has helped make the studio look so cute!!
The studio is “by appointment only” and does not function as a regular retails space. This allows us to keep our sessions and appointments private for our clients as well as come and go as we please. Thus, when the curtains are drawn, we are in session =)
